The text was mainly collected from my oldest sister’s Facebook statuses, written when she was around 14 to 16, alongside comments and conversations which now read as sort of strange time-stamped poetry. it slips in and out of linearity, mimicking the rhythm of memory, of internal monologue, of scattered conversations and the texture of the environment itself.

The visual imagery is a collection of archival photographs found in the depths of facebook, old hard drives, snapchat memories and shared texts. There are many intrinsic nods to the North East and its culture, such as: lyrics referencing Darren styles and MC lyric, The New Monkey logo, underage tattoos, chippy takeaways, 16th birthdays spent clubbing in Sunderland.

It doesn’t aim to explain or moralise. It’s observational, lived-in, and emotionally charged in its own way.
